In this sequel to The Road to Immortality, Geraldine Cummins continues to relay messages from a deceased entity purporting to be the eminent psychologist and psychical researcher, F. W. H. Myers. Like a parent guiding a child, Myers doesn't judge, but he urges us to consider a life apart from gold - a life without materialism. He talks extensively about reincarnation, judgment, the family group, and in particular, the seven planes of existence; seven speeds of vibration, the seven so-called-realities that most of us will experience before we pass into timelessness, Eternity, Heaven, Nirvana - call it what you will. On Jesus, he has this to say: "Jesus of Nazareth was Son of God because He descended to earth, and, rising again, passed through all the seven levels of consciousness, attaining without let or hindrance, to union with the Creator. It was not necessary for Him to exist on these various planes within the various worlds created by the journeying souls. For already He was very God, already He had that spiritual power which enabled Him to hold all the universes within the grasp of His consciousness, within an all-embracing love."

About the Author
Geraldine Cummins (January 24, 1890 - August 24, 1969) was an Irish automatic writing medium and author. Cummins automatic writing was mainly of a spiritual nature and was witnessed by several theologians and scholars who later endorsed and edited her writings. Her first book, The Spirits of Cleophas (1928), claimed to supplement the biblical books of the Acts of the Apostles and the epistles of St. Paul. It was a historic narrative of the early church and the work of the apostles from immediately after the death of Jesus to St. Paul's departure from Berea for Athens. Her second book, Paul in Athens (1930) is a continuation of 'Cleophas 'The third, The Great Days of Ephesus (1933), followed the same line of thought. Cummins's fourth book, The Road to Immortality (1932), a series of communications allegedly from F. W. H. Myers, gives a glorious vision of the progression of the human spirit through eternity. In the Introduction Beatrice Gibbes described the method of communication employed by Cummins. She would sit at a table, cover her eyes with her left and hand on concentrate on "stillness." She would then fall into a light trance or dream state. Her hand would then begin to write. Usually, her "control" would make some introductory remarks and announce that another entity was waiting to speak. Because of her semi-trance condition and also because of the speed at which the writing would come, Gibbes would sit beside her and remove each sheet of paper as it was filled. Cummins' hand was quickly lifted by Gibbes to the top of the new page, and the writing would continue without a break. In one sitting, Gibbes stated, Cummins wrote 2,000 words in 75 minutes, whereas her normal compositions were much slower - perhaps 800 words in seven or eight hours. Gibbes added that she witnessed the writing of about 50 different personalities, all claiming to be 'dead,' and all differing in character and style, coming through Cummins' hand. Cummins went on to author The Swan on a Black Sea a Study in Automatic Writing: the Cummins-Willett Scripts. The book is a detailed study of her automatic scripts received from the deceased "Mrs. Willett" a pseudonym of Winifred Coombe-Tennant, the British suffragette, politician, and philanthropist.

Continuation Of The Spirit

"Beyond Human Personality" by Geraldine Cummins is a channeled book that tackles debatable subjects. For instance, pages 38-40 tackle the subject of suicide in a very in-depth manner. There is information listed that some spirits that take their own life for noble purposes actually cross over to a better existence in the non-physical realm. It is pretty much implied that the karma of a man or woman who committed suicide determines where they go more than the act itself. Please know that my attention to this is unrelated to whether I would commit suicide. I personally do not believe in taking my own life because I'm aware that greater spiritual growth comes from making the best of my life until I transition from the earth realm into the non-physical sphere. However, I agree with the point made in the book that it is not another man or woman's place to judge another person for committing suicide and where the soul of a suicide goes (due to the fact that it depends on if there was noble intent, their level of spiritual development, and personal karma).
There is also an interesting chapter on reincarnation (pages 41-45). One reason why I do believe in reincarnation has to do with the fact that I am thankful for all of the blessings that I have and have a feeling that they are gifts from the good karma that my soul harvested from past lifetimes and this current incarnation (great husband, good health, good place to live, caring friends and family etc). Additionally, I believe that reincarnation helps explain why some people may be born with great beauty and/or certain racial backgrounds. After all, we do live in a society that places value on people depending on how they look on the outside (physical appearance,weight, race, economic status etc.). Yes, I am aware that high self-confidence can greatly help a man or woman's appeal. It is just that I do not believe that everyone reincarnates, but I do feel that a loving creator would not just force all men and women to live just one lifetime in a world where others are influenced to prejudge based on outside appearance, race, weight, disabilities etc.
Last, but not least, the "Solar Man" chapter (pages 69-94) discusses how there are a higher number of souls in other worlds than are on earth. There is also an indirect implication that a formerly earth-based soul is allowed to try to reside in these worlds after attaining a certain level of spiritual development. "Beyond Human Personality" by Geraldine Cummins covers so much more and is best for those who are open-minded in seeking spiritual truths from various sources.

Channeled material from F.W.H. Myers

Classicist and scientific investigator of psychic phenomena, Professor Myers was one founders of the British Society for Psychical Research. His *magnum opus* (while still alive) was a massive book called *Human Personality and It's Survival of Bodily Death* Myers is credited by many with anticipating the work of both Freud and Jung in his analyses of the human psyche. Geraldine Cummins was a British lady of some social standing but who was not particularly well educated & who supposedly would have lacked the detailed & deep knowledge of philosophy and the Greek classics exhibited in this channeled material. The work purports to give a detailed account of the *Other Side* I found it plausible, possibly even evidentiary, but not conclusive proof. But that is the maximum I would say about any work such as this.

An Astounding View of the After Life World

Expanding on the topics begun in the first volume, "The Road to Immortality," a channeled Frederic Myers continues his astounding revelations of existence in the after life through the mediumship of Geraldine Cummins. Having read the first volume with great relish, I was excited to read more of Myers' claims regarding our ultimate destiny.
In this volume, insanity, the double, the individual as a member of the family unit, and the family as a unit are examined in some depth. Myers also rehashes and expands on his seven fold division of the planes of existence, describing in greater detail the immediate life after death and the World of Illusion. The solar system and greater universe is explored in the chapter, "Solar Man," which to me was the most engrossing part of the book. According to Myers, the stars that populate our galaxy and the universe are not merely enormous globes of gas spinning through a lonely expanse of endless space; they are each populated by numerous souls who have reached the Fifth plane of existence, and who live rich lives incomprehensible to the human mind before passing, eventually, even higher into the consciousness of the Cosmic or Divine Mind of the universe. Even dead stars and planets such as mars are peopled by souls who have an experience they desire to gain by incarnating on them.
Myers also discusses Christian theology and the fate of the Buddhist, which he portrays in a pessimistic light. Part of the book comes off as an evangelical sermon, which was irritating at times. I understand Myers is a devoted Christian, but from what he has to say, there seem to be only three types of people in the world: Christians, Buddhists, and Atheists. Devout Buddhists, he asserts, stymy all but one facet of their potential, thus leading themselves into the need for even more evolutionary work than other types of people. Atheists are ignorant materialists. But what of the Hindu, Native American, Shinto practitioner or religious person of the classical world? Myers has not one word for them. He discusses Jesus repeatedly, but what of other deities? After reading "The Road to Immortality," I was hoping to hear his view on other deities in this volume. I find it suspicious for an academic classicist not to mention the deities of classical religion in a channeled treatise on the afterlife. What did Myers think of Iamblichus and the teeming multitude of Gods and other supernatural beings intervening on the earth plane? Was he a neoplatonist, a henotheist, or a simple monotheist? One won't know from reading these books. Had Myers been channeled in 2013, I think he would certainly discuss the reality of the myriad Gods and Goddesses that humans worship, especially considering that many or most of the people who would read such a text in this day and age are Wiccans or Neopagans of one variety or another.
